The founding of Kodaikanal by the American and European Missionaries led to the building up of a lot of Christian Churches in the course of time. There are umpteen number of Churches namely the Church of South India across Bryant Park,Gorapur, Lake End, La Salette, Lutheran Mission, Sacred Heart Church in Munjikal, Saint Antony’s Church located in Antonyar Kovil Street, Saint Francis Xavier, Saint Joseph’s, Saint Mary’s and Saint Peter’s Church located in Coakers Walk Road. The most prominent of them is the Union Church thronged by scores and scores of Tamilians and the Margaret Eddy Memorial Chapel Church in Kodai International School designed uniquely with atone architecture in American atyle where lively services are rendered. The Active Community of Tibetan Bhuddist refugees, along with the mosques namely the Ellis Villa and Munjikal as well as the Hindu Temples including the Durgai Amman Kovil, Kurunji Andavar Kovil, Mariamman Kovil, Observatory Murugan Kovil and Vinayagar Kovil attract people belonging to all faiths to Kodaikannal.
